Crustacean Plantation Inc.

A nonprofit dedicated to the conservation of the wild Hermit Crabs of the Florida Keys.

  • Native to the Florida Keys.

Cenobita Clypeatus commonly known as “Purple Pinchers”, can live for over 40 years old! However, certain human activities pose threats to the survival of our purple-clawed friends, relying on us to ensure their longevity and well-being.

  • Did you know?

Hermit Crabs are not born with shells and have to keep finding new, larger ones as they grow out of old shell? They wear them as protective homes!

  • Give Back to Nature!

Shells do more good in the wild than on a shelf. Leaving shells, as well as returning unwanted ones, help hermit crabs find homes.
